ACTOR/DIRECTOR

As an actor or a director, my ultimate goal is to delve into the most captivating and visually stimulating approach to tell the playwright’s story. The play’s the thing, after all and it is our responsibility to invite the audience into this world to explore their shared humanity, provoke thought, and relish in the immersion. Collaboration is the key, and I thoroughly enjoy exploring the creative process with my fellow artists. My role is to challenge and encourage taking risks  to ensure the audience experiences something new and innovative.  I am decisive and respectful of each artist’s process, whether they are a designer or actor.

TEACHING ARTIST

As my teaching philosophy has developed, the goal of creating a safe playground for artistic and intellectual risk taking and growth remain a constant. My first directive is to build a community of learners who are eager and engaged. Everyone has different learning styles, but feeling at ease and free to make mistakes allows the learner to explore concepts that seem daunting, challenging or uncomfortable. Therefore my first task as an educator is to build community, and then I may guide the learner to discovery.

APPLIED THEATRE

Theatre can create empathetic and engaged citizenry and using theatre to teach STEM curricula can be the first step in developing life-long learners. Guiding educators to explore their core cuuricula through the arts is the cornerstone of my artistic life.
